-A percussion instrument is anyobjet which produces a soundby being hit.

-Percussion instruments are sometimes classified as being pitchedor unpitchedif the make a definite pitch or indefinite pitch.

-Music for pitched percussion instruments can be notated on a stavewith the same trable and bass clefs used in many non-percussive intruments.

-Music for percussion instruments without a definite pitch can be notated with a specialpercussion clef.

- The xylophone consists of woodenbars of various lengths that are struck by plastic, wooden or rubbermallets. Each bar is tuned to a specific pitchof the musical scale.

-The vibraphone is an instrument similar to the xylophonethat produces soundby means of vibratingmetal bars.

-The kettledrum is a type of drum, it consists of a skin over a large bowl commonly made of copper. They are played by striking the head with a specialized drum stick. Unlike most drums, they produce a definite pitch when struck, and can be tuned, often with the use of a pedal.

-Claves are a pair of short thick dowels, When struck they produce a bright clicking noise.

-Castanets are pairs of shell- shaped clappers that are hinged together with string.

-One of the triangle’s angle’s is left open. It usually struck with a metal beater, giving a high-pithed ringing tone.

-A matched pair of cymbals that are held by leather straps and hit together to make a loud, metallic crashing sound.

-The tambourine is a musical instrument consisting of a frame, often of wood or plastic, with pairs of small metal.

-The snare drum is a drum is a drum with strands of snares made of curled metal. The drum can be sounded by hitting it with a drum –stick or any other form of beater, including brushes and rutes.

-A bass drum is a large drum that produces a note of indefinite pitch. It is played with one or sometimes two large, padded mallets. Usually the right hand plays the drum and the left hand muffles it.
