LESSON PLAN - VOCABULARY

Age: 7 years old.

Level: Low

CHECKING AND REVISING HOMEWORK

10 min.

WARM UP

Students will have to round and colour in the picture the class materials given. The new vocabulary will be rubber, ruler and pencil-case. The rest of the materials were already taught in previous courses.

AIM: To remember vocabulary they already know.

SKILL: Reading.

MATERIAL: Colours.

10 min.

PRESENTATION

Students will draw the class materials missing in the previous task and colour it up. Afterwards they will write the names next to every item given in the previous task.

AIM: To acquire new vocabulary

SKILL: Writing

MATERIAL: Colours, pencil, pen

15 min.

CONTROLLED PRACTICE

Children will have to match the names and pictures.

AIM: To associate names and pictures.

SKILL: Reading, writing, spelling.

MATERIAL: Colours.

5 min.

COMMUNICATIVE PRACTICE

Working in pairs. One of them ask “What is this?” showing or pointing one of the class materials from the first task and the other student says “This is a/an_________”

AIM: To pronounce the vocabulary in a context.

SKILL: Speaking, listening

MATERIAL: The class materials that the can easily find in their school bags.

FREE PRACTICE

Find out one new class material. Write its name on it or stuck a paper on it with its name. You can use the dictionary.

AIM: To find out information.

SKILL: Reading, writing.

MATERIAL: Dictionary, pencil-case.

Anticipating problems:

Not all of them will have all the class materials with them.

In that case the will use only the material they have or they can borrow from someone.


Warm up

Round and colour the materials that you can find in the picture from the list below.

Table, chair, window, bag, book, pen, pencil, rubber, ruler, pencil-case.


Controlled practice

Match the names and pictures. Afterwards colour up the letters.
